Since its inception in 2006, the annual OpenFOAM® Workshop has brought together users, developers, researchers, and industrial practitioners from around the world to discuss the latest developments in OpenFOAM® technology and its application to real-world engineering and scientific challenges. Over the past two decades, the workshop has grown into a leading international meeting point for the OpenFOAM community, fostering collaborations, exchanging ideas, and helping shape the future of open-source CFD and multiphysics simulation.
OFW22 continues this tradition in Delft, The Netherlands, a city with a long history of engineering innovation and computational modelling. The workshop provides a unique platform for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences, and building collaborations across academia and industry. Whether you are an experienced user tackling complex simulations, a developer contributing to the software, or an organization applying OpenFOAM® to engineering challenges, the workshop offers numerous opportunities to learn, network, and engage with the international OpenFOAM community.
Keynote lectures by leading experts from academia and industry;
Technical presentations covering recent advances in modelling, numerics, high-performance computing, and software development;
User and developer sessions highlighting innovative applications and community contributions;
Interactive discussions on future directions of OpenFOAM® technology;
Hands-on training courses for users at different experience levels;
Social and networking events designed to strengthen connections within the community.
New users are especially welcome.
The workshop provides a unique opportunity to interact directly with leading OpenFOAM® developers and expert users, gain insights from their experience, and build a network of peers that extends well beyond the event itself.
For developers, the workshop is an ideal platform to give visibility to new solver developments and software contributions. Personal interactions often play a crucial role in adoption: the workshop enables participants to discuss the motivations, capabilities, and limitations of their work directly with potential users and collaborators. By presenting new developments to the community, innovative ideas can gain recognition, attract users, and evolve into widely used tools.
The workshop also serves as a unique meeting place for academia and industry. By bringing together experienced practitioners, leading researchers, software developers, and the next generation of computational scientists and engineers, the workshop creates an environment where new ideas, collaborations, and projects can emerge. For many participants, discussions initiated during the workshop evolve into research partnerships, software contributions, industrial applications, and future career opportunities.
Many research projects, software developments, and industrial partnerships have their origins in discussions that started during previous OpenFOAM® Workshops. By bringing together users, developers, researchers, and industrial practitioners in a single forum, the workshop helps turn ideas into collaborations and software developments into broadly adopted community tools.
OFW22 is where industry meets the open scientific computing and engineering community. Meet other companies working with OpenFOAM®, connect with talented master and PhD students – your future colleagues – and show what your organisation does with and for OpenFOAM®.
