The OpenFOAM® HPC Challenge
How fast – and how efficiently – can OpenFOAM® run on today's HPC systems? Join the challenge at OFW22 and compare hardware, software and ideas with the community.
Benchmarking OpenFOAM® together
The OpenFOAM HPC Challenge is organised by the OpenFOAM HPC Technical Committee. Participants run the same industrial test case on their own systems and codes, and share time-to-solution, energy use and accuracy in a common format.
The results are discussed in a mini-symposium during the workshop, where hardware vendors, developers and industrial users meet. The full performance data is published afterwards, so the whole community can learn from it.
After the first edition in Vienna (2025) and the second in Guimarães (2026), the challenge continues in Delft.
Choose your track
Hardware track
Run the fixed reference setup with an official OpenFOAM® release on the hardware of your choice. Show what your CPUs, GPUs, compilers and interconnects can do.
Software track
Use any OpenFOAM®-based code, version or optimisation – from GPU ports to new solvers – while keeping the mesh, physics and accuracy of the reference case.
One case, comparable results
